FAQs

Asset management is the process of planning and controlling the acquisition, operation, maintenance, renewal, and disposal of organizational assets. This process improves the delivery potential of assets and minimises the costs and risks involved. Adequate maintenance and proper deployment of systems, people, and processes ensure a positive enhancement of capital over the asset lifecycle.

Asset lifecycle is the number of stages that an organisation’s asset goes through during the lifetime of an asset’s ownership. It is the period that a business can effectively and efficiently utilise an asset to accomplish its business goals. An asset lifecycle typically covers all phases of an asset’s life from acquisition through maintenance and eventual disposal

The fact is ISO standards are voluntary. There is no requirement in ISO Standards for you to be externally audited. The ISO simply demand that you evidence that audits take place covering each clause of the standard.

However, having ISO55001certification demonstrates that your organisation’s asset management system has been independently audited and meets the requirements of ISO which can benefit your organisation in competitive pitches.

An effective asset management process helps businesses monitor and manage their assets using a systematic approach. With a solid process, companies can improve productivity and efficiency of an asset thus enhancing the return on improvement.

Key components of an effective asset management process include:

  • Preparing an asset register: An inventory list of available assets
  • Identify asset conditions and rating system
  • Track asset depreciation accurately at timely intervals
  • Determine the value of assets and their replacement cost
  • Move to predictive asset maintenance rather than being reactive
  • Focus more on change management to ensure database integrity
  • Eliminate paperwork and automate tasks like data collection, asset reporting, and more

With the right preparation and a good understanding of what is required for ISO55001, most organisations can expect to achieve certification within 3 to 6 months depending on their size and complexity.

We are at the forefront of using the latest innovations to make the ISO55001 certification process as efficient as possible, therefore increasing the productivity of employees. Our certification service is also designed to deliver significant cost savings over the life span of your asset management system by reducing the number of audit days on site.

By using a combination of free, easy-to-use, technology we enable real-time collaboration whether staff are working on-site, at multiple locations or working from home. Rather than have a lot of time intensive face-to-face meetings co-workers can share screens, documents, join meetings and stream high-quality video to enable real-time collaboration. In general, annual certification will cost £1k-£1.3

ISO (the International Standards Organisation) do not demand or promote UKAS certification. In fact, they recognise and acknowledge that organisations can self-certify, or obtain independent verification to demonstrate that standards are being met.

Non UKAS providers (NDC) help achieve the same objective with less bureaucracy and greater efficiency as they are free to innovate and adapt and work independently of UKAS and the EU.
